SCANNING
What I like best about IMACON scanner I use, relative to typical drum scanner setups, is how nothing ever touches the film. IMACON's Flextight concept allows film to be wrapped around the lightsource without oil-mounting film to a drum, using mounting oil, tape, mylar sheets, and multiple cleanings, with each step increasing risk of damage to an original. Using the IMACON Flextouch spotting software, minor dust and scratches are eliminated without affecting image sharpness or film grain.
PRINTING
The term 'archival' is thrown around a lot in photography and digital printing. Wilhelm Imaging Research makes their entire business testing printers, inks, and papers for their longevity. Time spent on their site will assure one of the relative permanence of Epson 9800 K3 Ultrachrome pigmented inks and the Hahnemuele, Crane, Concord and Epson branded substrates. Indeed, Hahnemuele and Crane are papermills around since 1584 and 1801, respectively; they know their paper. What I find, in working with these elements, is that I can express an enormous range and depth of color and subtlety in images executed as exhibition level prints that are both singular and repeatable.

Finally, though I have confidence in the materials and processes I use, when I find ones sufficiently better, I employ them without hesitation.
